Minesweeper: Retro Edition
The classic mine-clearing puzzle for iPhone, with Beginner, Intermediate and Expert boards.
How to play
- Tap a square to reveal it. The number shows how many of the 8 surrounding squares hide a mine. Your first tap is always safe.
- Touch and hold a square to place or remove a flag.
- Chording (from version 1.8): tap a revealed number whose mines are all flagged to reveal the rest of its neighbours at once. If one of those flags is wrong, the mine under it goes off.
- Pinch to zoom the board, and drag to scroll.
- Reveal every square without a mine to win. Tap the smiley to start a new game.
Daily Board
New in version 1.8. Tap Daily Board above the counters to play today's board: an Intermediate board that is the same for everyone and starts with the same area already uncovered. A new board arrives at midnight on your phone's clock. You get one try a day, and your normal game waits until you go back to it.
Finish the Daily Board (a win or a loss) on days in a row to build a streak, shown with 🔥 on the Daily Board button and in Statistics. Wins go on Game Center's daily leaderboard, fastest time first, which starts over every day.
After your first Daily Board the app asks whether you'd like a daily reminder. It is off unless you say yes, is skipped on days you've already played, and can be switched off or moved to another time in Settings.
Settings and Game Center
The gear button opens Settings, where you can switch sound effects and haptics on or off. Sign in to Game Center to earn achievements, climb the best-time leaderboards and challenge friends. Game Center is optional.
